Arise TV anchor Rufai Oseni loses father

The father of Arise TV anchor Rufai Oseni has passed on, the journalist announced on Monday night.

Oseni said in a tweet that he loved his father dearly, asking the public to respect his privacy at this time.

“I sadly announce the passing of my dear father and my friend. I loved him dearly. He was my world. Please respect my privacy at a time like this. Thank you,” he tweeted.

Oseni did not state the cause of his father’s death.

The journalist clashed with the police earlier this month when he drove his private vehicle on the bus rapid transit lane.

A Lagos Mobile Court found him guilty of contravening Lagos State Transport Law of 2018 and fined him N70,000.

Oseni also claimed a policeman pointed a gun at him over the incident despite saying he would pay a fine for the infraction. The police said his allegation would be investigated.
