Blessing Okagbare shares rare photos of self wearing gele

Retired athlete Blessing Okagbare has shared photos of herself at her friend Amanda’s wedding on Instagram.

The 34-year-old is seen in some photos posted on Sunday wearing a headgear locally called gele. The Olympic and World Championships medalist is rarely seen wearing traditional outfits.

Mindful of the comments she would receive for her rare wedding photos, Okagbare said she does not wear gele and makeup for “just anyone”.

“Earlier this week I celebrated with my very special human @hrhmanda,” she began.

“It was everything Beautiful, blessed and, Glorious. Congratulations darrrrrrrllllllliiiinnninggggg…. God bless your union.

“I don’t wear Gele and make-up for just anyone… but, you see this woman, I will do anything.”

Amanda reacted in the comment section that Okagbare was helpful throughout the wedding.

“Couldn’t have gotten through the past week without you by my side Darling. I love you forever,” she wrote.

The location of the wedding was not immediately apparent.
