Herbert Wigwe was a compassionate leader, Abike Dabiri mourns

Chairman/CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) Abike Dabiri-Erewa has expressed sadness over the death of the group chief executive officer of Access Holdings Plc Herbert Wigwe.

Mr Wigwe, his wife Chizoba, and first son Chizi died in a helicopter crash on February 9.

The helicopter operated by Orbic Air LLC took off from Palm Springs Airport, California and was headed for Boulder City, Nevada.

It, however, crashed near the Nevada border.

The Eurocopter EC 130 aircraft was carrying six people, including former group chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Abimbola Ogunbanjo, onboard at the time of the accident. There were no survivors.

In a tribute made available to YEPS on Monday, Mrs Dabiri-Erewa said Wigwe’s death was a “profound loss” to Access Bank and the country.

“In memory of Hebert Wigwe, a compassionate leader and dedicated professional. Your unwavering support, humility, and professionalism during challenging times will always be remembered,” she wrote.

“This is a profound loss for Access Bank and our country. May his soul find eternal peace. Condolences to his family, friends, and business associates.”

Wigwe and wife left behind three children.
