Lizzy Anjorin reacts to allegation of stealing gold at Lagos market

Actress Lizzy Anjorin has reacted to an allegation that she was caught stealing gold at a popular market on Lagos Island.

A video of the actress being accused of theft has been circulating online since Monday night.

According to a report, Lizzy visited the market on November 17, 2023, where patronised a vendor selling accessories and made payment to the wrong account number. Still, due to her celebrity status, the vendor trusted the actress and allowed her to leave without confirming the payment, only to discover that the transaction was not successful.

However, when Lizzy recently visited the same vendor, she was easily recognised despite wearing a nose mask. The drama unfolded after the vendor identified her as the person allegedly responsible for the unresolved payment and confronted her, drawing the attention of others.

But in a video shared on her Instagram page on Monday night, Lizzy accused a certain fictional character she calls Sepeteri of setting her up.

The businesswoman said she saw a mockery video Sepeteri made after setting her up, adding that the fictional character is not smart and their actions remind her of how the said character allegedly set up filmmaker Seun Egbegbe.

She said: “Sepeterai my God is bigger than your God. I steal gold oo, she bi na gold. Ole ooo! I don go steal God oo! Mkae I tell you how I take steal the God, The person wey get the gold dey sleep, I come carry the gold, as the person see the gold the person come dey shout. Una no dey see the crowd? Sepeteri you are not smart. This afternoon you updated, you come comment you come put lonely at the top.

“Me I dey watch you, as you sef dey watch me, you come remind me how set up Seun Egbede, you know say na the same concept you do for me today. You know say dem say Gbebned go exchange money. Me I no go exchange money, na accessories i go buy o. I bought the accessories last year on November 17, when I reach my shop I go show u.”

Explaining what transpired between her and the vendor, the movie star said her husband made the transfer and when she asked the vendor if he had seen the money, he said no. Lizzy said she left and came back after two hours and the vendor confirmed the payment and gave her the accessories.

Clearing the air on the theft allegation, Lizzy said when she recently returned to the market, the same vendor confronted her and told her the transaction she made last year was unsuccessful but he could not remember the month of the payment. She said she was immediately accosted and nearly attacked by the vendor and others accusing her of defrauding him.

The actress made the statement after her rival Iyabo Ojo whom many believe she is referring to as Sepeteri made the mockery video when the theft accusation went viral.

The duo has been throwing shades at each other since Lizzy accused Sepeteri of having a threesome with her daughter and being responsible for the death of singer Mohbad.
