Peter Obi’s supporters shut down Uyo with rally

Supporters of the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi, on Tuesday held a rally in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital.

The supporters, made up mainly of young people, came out in mass to express their support for Obi.

In vidoes uploaded on Twitter, supporters could be seen chanting Obi’s name as they declared themselves ‘obidient’, a title associated with supporters of the presidential candidate.

Obi also met with University students at the E&R Event Center in Uyo.

Obi said his administration, if elected in 2023, will create an enabling environment for them to thrive, referencing some of the biggest tech companies like Facebook and Google which were created by students.

The former Anambra governor told the students that his government then created a thriving environment for Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing among others.

He also promised loans and grants for small and medium-scale businesses formed by students if he becomes Nigeria’s President next year. This, Obi added, will be a priority for his government.

On the dichotomy between Polytechnic and University education, Obi argued that technology is the future, stressing that Polytechnics will be at the core of producing technical graduates, who will drive the technological advancement of the country.
