Dignitaries gathered on Thursday evening at the Rock Cathedral in Lekki, Lagos for the service of songs and night of tributes in honour of the former group chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX) Abimbola Ogunbanjo.

Among those present were Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his Ogun State counterpart Dapo Abiodun and Femi Gbajabiamila, chief of staff to President Bola Tinubu.

Mr Sanwo-Olu shared photos of his time at the programme on Instagram on Friday.

He said his thoughts and prayers were with the bereaved family.

“I attended the wake and night of remembrance of my dear egbon, Abimbola Ogunbanjo OFR. It was a somber occasion, but also a time to honor and remember the life and times of a man who has touched our lives in so many ways.

“As we gather, we are reminded of the fragility of life and find comfort in the fact that we are not alone in our grief.

“To the family of the deceased, I offer my deepest condolences. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time,” the governor wrote.

Abiodun also shared photos on Instagram.

Pastor Paul Adefarasin and wife Ifeanyi were the host of the programme.

Ogunbanjo’s nephew, Jide Ogunmekun, in his vote of thanks, particularly thanked the Access Holdings Plc family, the NGX, media houses, other corporate bodies, friends and associates for their support and love.

Ogunbanjo died on February 9 in a helicopter crash in the United States. He will be buried on Friday, March 1 after a funeral service at Church of the Nativity, Parkview, Ikoyi, Lagos.
