Taylor Swift stops Justin Bieber; saves Mariah Carey

Taylor Swift has been on a roll after the release of the first single off her sixth studio album Reputation. The single “Look what you made me do” has been raking several accolades since its release and it has gone ahead to clitch another milestone. The single just debuted it’s number 1 spot on the billboard Hot 100 after dethroning Justin Bieber-assisted Despacito having seated on the number 1 spot for 16 weeks which tied with Mariah Carey and Boys II Men long held record.

If Despacito had stayed on the number 1 spot, it’d have broken the tie with Maria Carey for her track with Boys 11 Men, One Sweet Day.

Thanks to Taylor for saving Mariah Carey by elbowing Despacito!

T. Swift didn’t just debut at #1 — she had the highest amount of first week streams for a song by a woman ever, as Billboard reports. (Yeah, 84.4 million streams isn’t bad.) Previously, Adele held the record with 61.6 million streams of “Hello” during the song’s first week. Well done, Tay!
