Tokunbo Afikuyomi, wife celebrate son on 30th birthday

Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi and wife Modupe have penned a note in celebration of their son Tokunbo Jnr’s 30th birthday.

The excited parents, in the note made available to YEPSNG on Tuesday, mentioned some of the unique qualities that make their son the “remarkable man” he is.

They said, “From a young age, you demonstrated a dedication to your studies that set you apart. Achieving a First-Class degree in Economics and completing a Masters Degree at the London School of Economics (LSE) was a pointer to your hard work and intellectual prowess. Now, as you near the completion of your PhD, you continue to amaze us with your commitment to academic excellence. Your role as a lecturer at the prestigious University of Bristol and your former position as Editor-in-Chief of the renowned business data magazine, Stears, not only showcase your brilliance and leadership but you also inspire countless others.

“Beyond your academic and professional achievements, we are most proud of the kind, compassionate, and loyal person you have become. Your unparalleled commitment and loyalty to family is a shining example to all who know you. Your younger brothers, AJ and OJ, are particularly proud of you and always celebrate you. As a role model to the younger generation, you embody the values of integrity, perseverance, and excellence, inspiring countless others to follow in your footsteps.”

They described their son as the family’s shining star, and an embodiment of hope and promise for the future.

The former lawmaker and his wife said they were confident that with his determination and strong values, he would continue to achieve greatness and make a positive impact on the world stage.

They added, “We also commend you for your outstanding achievements in your previous roles, including your work as an economist with the British Government’s Department for International Trade (DIT), your role as a Treasury Summer Analyst at Barclays Bank in London, and your consulting contributions to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and other organisations.

“On this special day, we would also like to remember that you were born into exile and well-received by the giants of Nigerian democracy activists. We express our heartfelt gratitude to Mr President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, who played a crucial role in your upbringing, including Pa Enahoro, General Akinrinade and other NADECO leaders. Their guidance and the principles of democracy they instilled in you from a young age have undoubtedly contributed to the exceptional person you have become.

“As you celebrate this milestone, we wish you the happiest of birthdays and many more years filled with blessings, success, and happiness. May your future be as bright and promising as you are, and may you continue to shine as an embodiment of excellence in all that you do.

“Happy Birthday Dearest Son! We and the rest of the family love you more than words can express.”
