I have been following his push for the concert on social media with him running around and delivering invites to some personalities – both light and heavyweight
He even turned by egbon Heavyweight Kola Adeshina into a podcaster by having him hold on the invite and plug the concert.
Timi I can tell you is an iconic and epochal singer. He sings at the drop of a ‘heart’ and has melody in him all of the time
I have watched him do his thing severally and must say that he is simply one of the most gifted ever
His voice has this kaleidoscopic ring about it as it draws its strength from the uniqueness of its vocal quality.
Timi delivers soulful renditions with the smoothness of a baby’s bum, catching your attention and holding it firmly as he caries you thru the journey of your life.
From his wonderful hit – Iyawo mi were he playfully serenades his wife and which has turned into a wedding anthem to the more serious salute to our nation which is also giving the National anthem a fight for relevance, Timi delivers immortality as he echoes the deep and resonating engagement between vocals, instruments, rhythm and the audience.
A Timi concert is a convivance between, your goose pimples, his lyrics and the harmony that wafts through his sweet mouth as he renders the most touching ballads you can imagine.
I once watched Timi at the well respected Tera Kulture with my mouth opened wide throughout the concert.
I had just finished watching a concert by the legendary Barbra Streisand where she interspersed beautiful renditions with engaging monologues and quips, so when I walked in and saw Timi doing the same, I was enthralled.
Each beautiful rendition came with a monologue of clean humour and an engagement with the audience that by the time his beautiful wife came out, the audience was sold.
My only issue with that concert was his huge attempt at reestablishing his street cred with stories of drinking garri and the rest.
There was no need as he is now a ‘god’. A god that we willfully worship at the temple of his gift.
Timi’s voice is his strongest weapon. What it lacks in strength and length it more than makes up in raspy entwinement.
As he sings, he exudes the raspy quality of a Tom Jones complete with the feeling of forceful evacuation that seems to come from the waist, straining the vocal chords and putting pressure on the veins who will now bulge out in salute to the god as he holds his audience spellbound
Watching Timi sing is an experience and this is why I envy the Abuja crowd for what they are about to witness.
They will be witnessing a worship at the throne of this god on whose head the God have truly cracked a nut.
I endorse this and push you all in Abuja to go see this as you may not be opportuned to in a long time coming if you miss this.
Meanwhile, go on the muvmnt Studio on YouTube and watch my interview with Timi Dakolo as you prepare for this worship experience.
Timi, send my own complimentary ticket, make we start the journey by road as cost of Air tickets don reach to buy house.
Well-done my brother.
Thanks
